Hamid Blad is first of all a self-made photographer. He began his artistic career in traditional film photography. The grains and alternative processes had immediately fascinated him. After years of digital photography, he felt the need to find less smooth images. For ten years now, he practices only « slow photography » but at a very high speed. This does not imply that the photographer remains inactive during the shooting.His personal work consists mainly of the encounter of the contemporary image with the timeless processes. This confrontation is an essential part of his vision.Hamid Blad lives and works between Paris and London.
Hamid Blad est d’abord un photographe « autodidacte ». Il a débuté son parcours artistique par la photographie argentique. Le grain et les procédés alternatifs l’ont tout de suite fasciné. Après des années de numérique, il avait besoin de retrouver une photographie moins lisse. Depuis une dizaine d’années, il ne pratique que de la « slow photo » mais à une très grande vitesse. Ses travaux personnels sont essentiellement de la rencontre de l’image contemporaine avec des procédés hors du temps. Le décalage est une part essentiel de sa vision.
